Rocky River Youth Field Hockey Clinic
Cleveland Field Hockey Club will be hosting a youth field hockey clinic in Rocky River during the summer for athletes in Grades 2-8. The program will be hosted at the Rocky River Recreation Center - 21012 Hilliard Blvd, Rocky River, OH 44116.
Session I June 11 - July 2 Tuesdays & Thursdays 6-7:30 PM (Option to sign up for Tuesdays or Thursdays only)
Session II July 9 - August 6 Tuesdays & Thursdays 6-7:30 PM (Option to sign up for Tuesdays or Thursdays only)
The clinic will have a limited amount of sticks to loan players. Players need a field hockey stick, shin guards, mouthguards and a water bottle.
Players will be taught to play the fun fast paced competitive sport of Field Hockey. Field Hockey is the third most popular team sport in the world with over 2 billion supporters! It is an Olympic Sport and the United States fields teams in international competition for both men and women.
High school field hockey in the United States is limited to girls teams even though some states allow boys to play on those teams.At the collegiate level it is exclusively a female sport. However, at least one college (Old Dominion University) has recently signed the first ever male practice player as a team member. There are 279 college field hockey programs. About 9.1 % of US high school players go on to play at the college level, which is about 4th highest for high school female sports.
