What Players' Parents Say About Us
"We needed a great Field Hockey Club in Cleveland and that is just what Fuzzy brought to our town! Fuzzy is a great coach with a lot of experience. He believes in the players and encourages hard work and perseverance!"

“As a parent of a collegiate field hockey player, the Cleveland Field Hockey Club and Fuzzy provided our daughter with the opportunity, consistency and coaching that was necessary in her formative years to take her love of the sport on to college. Fuzzy is one of the most skilled coaches, especially for goalies, in the region and taught our daughter the necessary techniques needed to excel at the next level. Our daughter still seeks out advice and time from Fuzzy every summer to hone her skills. Fuzzy is a talented coach and former international player who has high expectations for the girls and will fully commit his time and energy to the girls who want to take their game to the next level. If your daughter is interested in being an outstanding high school player or potentially a collegiate player at any level, playing year round field hockey is a must. Fuzzy offers summer and winter clinics and leagues which our daughter took full advantage of as early as 7th grade while pursuing her academics, other sports and interests. By playing regularly under Fuzzy, she built the confidence and skills to play with girls from all over the country. Our daughter is the starting goalie for a NESCAC program, furthering her education at one of the top colleges in the nation while still pursuing her love of field hockey. Fuzzy and CFHC contributed to that success by allowing her the opportunity to play the game she loved, ultimately getting recruited to play in college. We will always be grateful for the time Fuzzy has spent with her and support Fuzzy’s continued commitment to bring the game of field hockey to Northeast Ohio.”

“Our daughter, Meghan, has been training with Fuzzy since she was in 8th grade. She appreciates his no nonsense approach to coaching and he has helped her develop into a strong player both mentally and physically. The Cleveland Field Hockey Club has allowed Meg to keep a stick in her hands year round so she is constantly developing in the off-season as well. The CFHC has been the only consistent club in NE Ohio year after year.
The indoor game is great for developing and refining stick skills. Meg’s team has gone to the National Indoor Tournament 2 out of her 4 years of high school. Her plan for the next 4 years is to attend Kent State University and play D1 field hockey. She is so thankful for the support and technical training provided by both her high school coaches and the CFHC coaches. She hopes to return to the club one day as a coach and to work with others in our area to grow participation in the sport of field hockey.”

“Cleveland Field Hockey Club contributed invaluably to Anna’s development as a field hockey player, preparing her for competition both at the high school varsity and collegiate level. Anna began working with CFHC and Coach Kishna as a middle school player with absolutely no previous experience. To say she didn’t know much about the sport is an understatement! Coach Kishna and the entire coaching staff at CFHC work exceptionally well with players at all levels. They began laying a solid foundation of basic skills and drills for Anna that allowed her to progress quickly. The coaches also do an excellent job recognizing individual strengths and weaknesses and working to balance those out, helping each player reach their potential. Anyone who has parented a teenager knows that the journey is never easy or smooth, and Anna’s in field hockey was no exception. Coach Kishna not only recognized her struggles, but managed to say the exact right thing at the exact right time to steer her back on course. At the conclusion of her sophomore year, Anna decided she loved the sport enough to want to continue to play in college. Coach Kishna and CFHC were with her every step of the way, coming early or staying late at practices to work on her hits or her penalty shots, giving her extra work time that proved instrumental in reaching her goal. After six years of work with CFHC, Anna will continue to pursue field hockey at Kenyon College. Without question, this would not have happened without the dedication, caring and expertise of the staff at Cleveland Field Hockey.”

“Sofia started playing with Cleveland Field Hockey Club in the summer after her 7th grade season. Finding the proper training for a Middle School player in Northeast Ohio can be challenging. She played in the Futures Program for a couple of years but found the training to be impersonal with very little individual instruction. Fuzzy and his staff provided a much better fit as she was learning the game. Not only was she learning how to play the game and developing her skills, she was having fun in the process.
The program is broken up into indoor and outdoor seasons that focus on different skill sets. Indoor sharpens the stick and passing skills that is part of the modern game and the outdoor focuses on strategy and proper positioning that is important that the next level. The exposure to coaches with Division I college experience provides instruction that cannot be matched in Northeast Ohio. The opportunity to play regional and national tournaments provided Sofi with a competition level needed to improve her game and reach her goals. There is no doubt that Sofia would not have been as successful of a high school player or have the opportunity to play in college without the training she received from CFHC. “
